Introduction to Our
Library
The Central Library is Located in the 4th floor of the College. It has inside area of 1226 Sqms and an additional area of 143 Spms. for outside reading area and waiting area. Thus the total service area comes to 2632 Spms.. The Library is well illuminated and Air-conditioned. It provides a good ambience and free from noise.
The Library Circulation counter cum Reception area is at the entrance of library. Electronic devices are used in this counter for handling books taken from the library or received.
The library works from 9am to 9 pm on all working days, where as s it functions from 9.00am to 4.00 pm on Sunday and other Public Holidays. Library closed on National holidays such as Republic day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi , Pongal and Deepawli etc.
The Library has Text and reference books as well as journals. All the library facilities and services are supported by qualified and efficient staff members who provide information service to the users. The library provides Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility for easy search for the faculty and students, An OPAC has been created and 5 terminals are provided for easy access. It is also made available to the end users with in campus. All library operational services have been automated using windows based Technology.
SOFTWARE USED
Programmers of AMCH Group have developed in-house software “LIBSOFT”, Which operates on window 2000 server Oracle with J2EE. The software has excellent operational modules for transaction, query, administration, reporting, search etc.

The Library has internet facilities for faculty, students and research scholars.
Intranet
The Library staffs conducted by intranet to other departments. With this facility faculty members can search the availability of books and communicated with the librarian.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
The Library staffs conduct educational programmers for themselves once in two months to update their professional talents and services.
LIBRARIAN’S DAY
This has reference to August 12th which being celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in remembrance of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who was an eminent figure in Library science and Spearhead library movement in India.
UTILIZATION
Students of the other college and research scholars can use the library facility on prior permission from the Principal of the Medical College.
